Quick Post-Wedding Reflection

We’ve officially been married for just over a month! Yay! I’ve been lacking in my blog posting as of late, as you can imagine we’ve been pretty busy. Most of my time has been spent in hundred degree hallways of various government buildings working on changing my name. I plan on posting more about the wedding planning process and of course I will do some post wedding wrap-ups soon. I’m really going to try and write more in general as I want to remember this time of my life and this blog is basically my public journal (minus the section where I ask my journal if some boy likes me, because I GOT A HUSBAND YA'LL). What I can say in this short post is that the wedding was a freaking awesome over the top party. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect wedding week. More to come on the amazing, romantic, emotional, booze fueled week in later posts. Seriously, it was a tipsy love fest.

I would like to quickly comment on the false rumors that wedding planning is a fun and breezy process. Who are these women who have the time and energy to have their hand in every detail of the process; monogrammed macaroons, hand-painted wedding signs, unique name cards attached to vintage keys?? I’ll tell you who, women with no jobs and deep pockets. I can’t even be mad at those ladies who leisurely plan their weddings, because I’m secretly jealous of them. I would have liked to do more DIY elements, but I didn’t have the time or energy. (This is where my Mom really shone, she added some really wonderful personal touches) Also, have you heard of pinterest anxiety, because it’s a real thing.

My mother and I planned the wedding from top to bottom. Our challenges were that I worked full time and live in California, Mom lives in Tennessee, and the wedding was in Maine, and we wanted to execute the wedding within a reasonable budget. Even through all of the tough months of planning, the stress, the deadlines, the phone calls and even a few tears I can honestly say that all the hard work was worth it. I will forever have the memories of a perfect wedding day, standing before everyone I love and professing my love for my hunk of a husband.
